HIV discrimination complaint passes initial review by Attorney General

The Indiana Attorney General’s Office responded to my complaint against Dr. Saad Soofi of Affordable Dentures & Implants, alleging HIV discrimination, professional misconduct, and patient mistreatment, advising me that the complaint was forward "for further investigation" by the office’s Licensing Enforcement division.

The Attorney General’s response indicates that the matter has been assigned to an investigator for a second-round review to determine the sufficiency of the claims made in the complaint. Licensing Enforcement is responsible for investigating complaints against licensed professionals in Indiana to ensure compliance with state laws, which means that any investigation in the future will serve the interests of the state, and not necessarily mine as an individual.

By forwarding the complaint to the Licensing Enforcement division, the Attorney General confirms that it meets all the statutorily required criteria that define a valid complaint made to the consumer complaint division. This step does not imply that the claim has merit, just that a determination as to whether the claims made in the complaint are sufficient, as well.
